Our People
Stratum is a virtual organisation that uses the services of a number of
skilled and experienced individuals as and when needed. The company is led
by its founders and Board of Directors comprised of Nick Mallinson, Mike
Page and Ian Mayer.
Nick Mallinson
Nick is a Chartered Electrical Engineer having studied at Imperial
College where he gained a PhD in the early 1980s.
Nick initially worked as a design engineer for Cambridge Consultants before
spending 20 years in the GEC organisation in a number of roles including
strategic marketing, programme management, business development, product
line management and sales and marketing. Nick holds an MBA from the Open
University and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Nick has experience in helping small start up companies and is also familiar
with working with Universities to access research and development support.
Residing in Warwickshire, Nick is married with three adult sons and a
teenage daughter and is Treasurer of his local community association
Mike Page
Mike combines a diverse range of hands on business experience gained in
competitive environments with a love of family life and sports. His
experience of both business and team sports has resulted in his
straightforward, no nonsense and pragmatic approach to business. He
graduated in 1986 with a First Class Honours Degree in Telecoms Engineering
and in 1990 with a PhD in the same field. In 2007 he added an MBA to his
academic record. During his 18 year career in telecoms, he was involved in
the design, manufacture and marketing of telecoms equipment with Nortel,
Ericsson and Filtronic. Throughout this period he held roles in product
design, system design, project management and departmental management. Most
recently he held a position in marketing working on new business
development.
Mike currently manages a retail business and has excellent experience of
franchising, retail business establishment and retail operation gained both
in times of boom and in the cauldron of recession. Residing in West
Yorkshire Mike is married to Karen and they have two children.
Ian Mayer
Ian combines his entrepreneurial business experience with church
leadership and family life. Ian is a qualified teacher with a degree in
technology. He has been involved in education and training since 1990 with
roles including the teaching of Design & Technology and ICT, Head of Student
Services, Head of Marketing and Director of Information Learning Technology.
Ian has been involved with Internet and Multimedia Learning Technologies
since 1995. He has experience in managing IT strategy as well as skills in
developing and supporting on-line learning, mentoring and assessment. Ian
has successfully founded a number of Virtual Networks and Virtual
Organisations. He currently manages a number of Internet based projects that
range from business development to community and social networking. Residing
in South Yorkshire, Ian is married to Alyson and they have three adult
children.
Other Resources
Nick, Mike and Ian call on Stratum Associates as required to supplement effort on a given client’s project or to provide skills that are unusual or highly specialised. Such associates are introduced to the client before any work commences to ensure that a good working relationship exists.
